Kimberly Haskins

Senior Program Officer, Sector Effectiveness

Kim joined Barr Foundation in 2003 and currently supports Barr’s Sector Effectiveness program, investing in efforts that contribute to a healthy, vibrant nonprofit and philanthropic sector. She manages the equitable policy making portfolio, which supports collaborative efforts working at the intersection of critical levers necessary to develop and implement policy that advances equity across issue areas: access to accurate and reliable data analyzed with an equity lens; representative and effective civic leadership and administration; and inclusive and informed community engagement. Kim also manages the social change leaders portfolio that advances effective, inclusive, equitable leadership and manages the Barr Fellowship, a program that celebrates exceptional leaders, invests in them and their organizations, and cultivates a network of civic leaders committed to Greater Boston. Expanding on her work with the Foundation, Kim is co-chair of the Leadership Funders Group, which supports and connects national and regional funders committed to investing in, strengthening, and sustaining leadership as a pathway to a more just, equitable, vibrant world.

Kim previously managed Barr Foundation’s grantmaking in early education as well as a broader K12 portfolio that included charter schools, experiential education, and district investment. Before joining Barr, Kim served as a senior director for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay, where she managed a team of staff and volunteers responsible for annual investments in community-based organizations. She was also an auditor for the Bank of Boston (now Bank of America).

Personally, Kim has been a longstanding volunteer supporting reproductive justice and equity. She has served on the boards of the Pro-Choice Massachusetts Foundation and NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, and the finance and audit committees of Reproductive Equity Now.

Kim earned an M.B.A. and a certificate of nonprofit management from Boston University’s School of Management and a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She treasures time with her rescue pup and cooking for family and friends.
