MASS MoCA

North Adams, Massachusetts

MASS MoCA is one of the largest centers for contemporary visual art and performing arts in the United States. Located in the city of North Adams, MASS MoCA posits that multiple curatorial perspectives encourage a willingness among visitors to embrace new artistic experiences. An ArtsAmplified grant of $900,000 will allow MASS MoCA to leverage growth and visibility around the recent opening of B6: The Robert W. Wilson Building. With initiative funds, MASS MoCA will support emerging and innovative mid-career artists, advance an ambitious curatorial vision, fine-tune the way it manages partnerships, and enhance the visitor experience for its growing audience.

“MASS MoCA was founded with two missions: to serve as a platform for new art, and to lift up the North Adams community. Our aspiration is to convince more people to come to North Adams to engage with fresh art and new, diverse perspectives, improving their lives, building their careers, and joining our community, both temporarily and for the long haul. We’re convinced MASS MoCA can play a prominent role in making that happen.” – Joseph C. Thompson, Director

Through innovative collaborations, MASS MoCA helps artists and their supporters create and show important new work, bringing to its visitors bold visual and performing art in all stages of production, while also creating a stimulating center of creativity and commerce that brings life and economic vibrancy to its hometown.
