Over a decade ago, the Foundation Strategy Group worked with Barr's trustees and early staff to articulate a first set of strategies and to represent them in a graphic we could use as a communications tool. We referred to that first graphic as Barr's "Three Rings" because it centered on a venn diagram - emphasizing the idea that the Foundation's support for work in the environment, arts, and education would be mutually reinforcing to "build a better Boston for all." Through the years, as Barr's strategies have evolved, we periodically updated the text inside each of those three rings, but continued using the same graphic - even as the Barr Fellowship, then our climate work, and then our emerging Global program reached beyond Boston. However, thanks to Hairpin Communications - based in Boston's Dorchester Neighborhood - Barr's strategic goals for its domestic work now have a new and much-improved look (which is too small to read here, but downloadable below):
