From Local to Global: Reflections on a Three Year Pilot

A new booklet introduces the Barr Foundation's early work and learning from a three-year pilot in global grantmaking.

As we begin a new year, we are excited to share a copy of From Local to Global, a booklet introducing the Barr Foundation’s early work and learning in global grantmaking.

In 2010, building on a decade of grantmaking focused on Boston, the foundation launched Barr Global as a three-year pilot. Since then, we have made 23 investments across East Africa, Haiti, and India with a focus on three areas critical for people to thrive: health, livelihoods, and the environment. In 2013, Barr Global was integrated as a full program of the foundation.

As we strive to deliver meaningful impact for children and families in the Global South, we endeavor also to contribute to a community of colleagues that share learnings and collaborate on initiatives to reduce the global inequity that is so injurious to us all.
